Was just asking to myself the exact reason why all the general people in the public are not trendsetters, i got my answer in a recent event i attended at Ahmedabad. Never thought that attending such an event would give me an answer i was looking for so long.

Children of today, are quite advanced, but do we make them trust that they are unique.. ? Moreover Do we equip them with the vision of first identifying their strengths and then work on strengthening the same ? The answer is NO, or if some might debate i would say a handful do so. Coming to the experience, i saw how school children go crazy when they see a same aged celeb dancer on stage and say “he has so much name & fame, i wanna dance like him”. Next moment the other celeb who is a sports man of the same age enters the stage and again the same words come, “he has so much name & fame, i wanna play like him”. i was keenly observing the suggestions from the parents which went like, “Forget it you can never be like him, see our neighbors son he has so much potential, he scored 100 / 100 in science. Now he will become a doctor or an engineer.”

Really felt disgusted, not just at what i heard, but also the whole situation. The first point here was the child was not clear on what his strengths are, hence wants to take up a profession that he sees coming with name, fame & success. But, forgets that what looks like a walk in the park, seems like a walk in the desert when actually taken up as main stream profession. Moreover when one is able to identify the strengths possessed it rather becomes that easy to achieve success. Secondly, the comment from the parents, was totally irresponsible. Words of Wisdom should have kicked in and explained to the child that everyone has his/her own strengths, working on the same would make them achieve the heights of success in life.

We see others and follow their path of success instead of constructing our own path, due to which the uniqueness factor vanishes, making us Best Followers, rather than Leaders.!
