Went for a movie yesterday, Ek Villan (Don’t even ask how horrendous the movie was). So attention was certainly not on the screen. Well, sitting in the second row from the top, I did a counting “Number of Times people unlock their phones for a few seconds, check their notifications and Then turn it back off”.
It was such a staggering number, i couldn’t believe it myself. In a theater with 525 seat capacity over 257 people checked their phone during the on going movie and most of them did so multiple times of course of which i couldn’t keep track of.
The screen emitted green colour or mostly blue colour, indicating WhatsApp or Facebook Application being accessed. Once near to me certainly did so more than 8 times during the one hour of my observation.
This shows the level of Addiction the Social Media has on not only the youth but Men & Women in the late Thirties or even early forties. I was left dumbfounded as i was literally not able to keep count of the different variable mentioned here after an hour. It is good to be connected socially, but the problem here is that youth and people in the post youth stage of their life in our country are just wasting time on social media, rather than utilizing it as a tool to enhance their life.
These stats poped up when people were seated in a theater watching a movie. We can just imagine the stats if a survey is done for a whole day..!
